FEASTING SESSIONS

SPRING 2025 - 21 & 22 MARCH

Join us for one of our signature communal dining experiences, shaped and refined over the past six years. The joy of gathering around a table remains at the heart of what we do, which is why we’re thrilled to introduce our Seasonal Feasting Sessions—an intimate dining experience with limited seating, featuring a curated six-course menu that celebrates the very best of the season.

These sessions offer the full evening experience we’ve become known for. Begin with canapés and cocktails by the fire before taking your seat at one of our two long communal tables in the Milking Byre, where you’ll tuck into a refined menu crafted by our chefs.

As we emerge from winter, life returns to the farm. Our livestock bask in the sunshine and longer days as they graze the pastures, while the market garden begins to stir, showing its first signs of the season’s renewal. Our Spring 2025 Feasting Sessions will be a celebration of this new life. Join us on March 21st or 22nd at 19:00

About the evening

  • MENU

Our menu evolves with the seasons, showcasing the produce from our farm. We are happy to accommodate all dietary requirements, but please inform us when making your reservation.

Please note that due to the nature of our menu, our evenings are not particularly child-friendly, and we do not offer a children's menu.

Our six-course set dinner menu is priced at £85.00 per person.

  • Our bar opens for drinks at 18:30. We kindly ask that you arrive by 19:00 so we can seat everyone promptly.

Dinner service typically concludes around 22:30, but you are welcome to stay for a drink or two afterward.

  • We operate a licensed bar that accepts both card and cash payments. Our carefully curated menu is designed to complement our food perfectly. We exclusively offer a selection of natural and organic wines, local beers, seasonal cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Please note that BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) is not permitted.

  • We are located just outside Balerno, with easy access from the City of Edinburgh. Click here to view our location on Google Maps.

    TAXIS & UBER

Please note that while you may be able to get an Uber here, they do not operate pickups this far out. We have a great relationship with Edinburgh City Cabs and recommend using their services instead. You can pre-book online, via their app, or by phone.

    BUS & SHUTTLE SERVICE

The number 44 Lothian Bus to Balerno is your best option from the centre of Edinburgh (route map here—select 44 from the dropdown on the left).

We offer a free Land Rover shuttle service to and from the Crosswood Crescent bus stop, bringing you to the farm and back at the end of the evening. The first pickup from Crosswood Crescent is around 18:45, and we aim to have all guests at the venue by 19:30.

If you’d like to use the shuttle, please let us know in advance so we don’t leave you waiting at the bus stop!

  • For bookings of more than eight people, please email restaurant@the-free-company.com

  • If the date or time you prefer is fully booked, you can sign up for the waitlist on our booking page. If a table becomes available, you will receive a notification confirming your booking.

  • Due to our rural location, it is very difficult to fill tables on short notice. Therefore, cancellations or no-shows within 48 hours of your booking will incur a £50 charge per person.

  • We offer gift vouchers for our restaurant. To purchase one, click here.

  • If you have any questions or issues, please send us an email at restaurant@the-free-company.com
