The day starts with a farm tour, where we’ll visit the willow beds and talk about how this versatile material is grown, harvested, and prepared. Then, we’ll head to the hayloft, where Katie will guide you through the essential techniques of basketry—laying a strong base, weaving structure, and shaping your basket with precision and control.

You’ll be working with natural willow, including some grown here on the farm, using time-tested techniques to create a basket that’s both sturdy and practical. The weaving can be done either seated or standing at table height, making it comfortable for different preferences.

As a professional basket maker and basketry teacher, Katie takes a clear, hands-on approach, breaking each stage of the process into manageable steps. She’ll guide you through the craft with demonstrations and one-to-one support, helping you build confidence as you work. Whether you’re completely new to weaving or looking to refine your technique, you’ll leave with a well-crafted basket and the skills to continue making your own.

At 12:30, we’ll take a break for a seasonal spring lunch prepared by The Free Company, featuring produce from the farm. The menu includes smoked sourdough with honey butter, a seasonal main, and dessert, offering a fresh and satisfying meal before the afternoon session.

Cancellations made more than 28 days prior to the event will receive a full refund.

If you cancel within 28 days of the event, we will do our best to find a replacement student. If a replacement is found then we will refund you. If we do not find a replacement your booking will not be refunded.
